We have had an illuminated globe next to the kids’ changing table for a long time. By now they can point to some countries and continents on it. Today Kabir was very interested in the North Pole 🧊

I got to show him how Greenland is a lot smaller than it looks on other maps. How Canada extends so much north. And that as soon as enough of the polar ice cap stays melted for the whole year, the major trade routes will start passing through the Arctic Sea instead of the Red Sea 🌊

Last week we had learned how Vasco de Gama had discovered the around-Africa route to India, and how the Suez Canal had made the Red Sea the “shortcut” since then. So today ended up being a very smooth transition to what may happen next 😆
