“Ironing shoelaces” – reviving a 1920’s slang

I just came across this article that highlights some cool slangs that were used in the 1920s.

To “ankle” is to walk and “noodle juice” meant tea. This one, however, really resonated with me and I plan to use it more often now:

Iron one’s shoelaces: to excuse oneself for the restroom

I think this one just checks so many boxes right now for me, I suspect I will be using it for a while.
