Sleep headband, exercise, kindle etc: some of my “hacks” for better sleep

Here are some things that I have found have helped me sleep better recently:

  1. On iOS I enabled SettingsScreen TimeDowntime
I had tried this before and it didn’t work. But they have improved it and it gets the balance right. It’s enough of a deterrent to make me pause and reconsider.
  2. I have a Kindle Paperwhite Signature next to my bed. I prefer that specific one as it has adaptive screen brightness. And the fabric cover “wakes” up the kindle straight to the page I was at. There’s no friction to reading now and I have been reading a lot.
  3. I got a Perytong Sleep Headphone Headband for $15. It’s a cloth band that wraps around the head like a headband. It’s Bluetooth and batteries last forever. It has been a game changer for falling asleep to podcasts, audiobooks, music or meditations.
  4. I have a YouTube playlist called “Gym” and I add long form videos to it on topics I’m interested in. 3 days a week I go onto the treadmill and watch 30 min at a time. Having this consistency has help my body get good rest.
  5. I had started taking MagDelay Magnesium Chloride 64 mg, a Delayed Release Magnesium Supplement. It was suggested by my dietician when I was doing a keto and high protein diet. But one of its great benefits is it also helps with sleep.
